What to expect:
Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. To perform, sign up on the sheet posted inside — first come, first served.
We have a house sound system and several mikes will be waiting on the stage. (We have DI's too — direct inputs for instruments if you want to plug in.) At 7:30, we'll introduce the first performer on the sign-up sheet, and then continue down the list.
You can perform 1-3 songs, some poems, a prose reading, mime, comedy sketch, dramatic scene — any performance art. Just limit it to no more than 10 minutes. If you need less time, that's cool too!
If there's time left after everyone's had a chance, we may invite you to do another set. Or maybe you've met new friends and want to jam onstage a while. We're pretty informal...anything can happen!
The Two Way Street is a small place, and this series is not really intended for full bands. Solos and small groups of two or three work best.
We welcome any instruments (or other stuff) that can be set up quickly. Guitar, sax, keyboard, bass, bongos, congas, kazoo, bagpipes — all cool. Small amps are OK and light percussion; but please, no full drum kits — we don't have space or setup time. We have a grand piano.
We encourage your suggestions. If you have ideas on how to make LAST THURSDAY better, tell us!
Bring your friends! It's nice to have a friendly crowd to cheer your show. Refreshments are available: coffee, tea, soda, cider, cocoa, and snacks.
